MOTOR INSURANCE POLICIES

Motor vehicle insurance provides cover in respect of injury to or the death of any third party, damage to or the destruction of property belonging to a third party or own property damage. Atlantic Insurance issues the following types of policy:

Act Only/Third Party Only

covers the minimum required by law - the insured’s liability in respect of third party injury, death or property damage, and cost in connection with a claim plus legal fees. It can also extend to include passenger’s liability and loss of life.

Third Party Standard

covers the third party risk but extends to include any risk occurring on private roads. This cover apart from satisfying the minimum legal requirement on public and private roads also extends to include the higher limits of liability. Some exceptions apply. It can also extend to include passenger’s liability and loss of life.

Third Party, Fire and Theft

satisfies the minimum legal requirements and includes cover for damage to the insured’s vehicle from fire or theft, and extends to include the higher limits of liability. Some exceptions apply. It can also extend to include passenger’s liability and loss of life.

Comprehensive

covers third party, fire and theft plus accidental and malicious damage to the insured’s vehicle. A wide variety of benefits can also be included, such as passenger’s liability, loss of life and medical expenses.

Comprehensive Plus

same as comprehensive but covers cyclone, flood, hurricane and other similar phenomenon.
